On Tuesday, June 24, MAPP is hosting an HIV testing event for public officials at their office at 429 Livernois. County Commissioner Dave Coulter, D-Ferndale, is one of the officials expected to take part and Covey is looking for more officials.
"As mayor of Ferndale I will be tested," Covey said. "I would love to see mayors and council members from neighboring cities take part as well."
HIV tests are routinely done with guaranteed anonymity and results are completely confidential, he added.
