Does this city have a future as the state's first medical marijuana dispensary?

It depends who you ask.

Voters in this funky, progressive suburb overwhelmingly supported a local medical marijuana initiative Nov. 4 that allows one man and his group to distribute pot in Ferndale with a court order.

Ferndale resident John Mielke III said he isn't surprised Ferndale's ordinance is drawing flak.

"I voted for it, but I knew it wouldn't happen. The government has too much fighting against this," Mielke, 61, a retired mold maker and machine tool builder.

Ferndale officials consider building options

After listening to Plante & Moran CRESA consultants lay out several options Monday, council members voted to consider moving the Ferndale courthouse to a building next door and renovating City Hall and the police station.

AJ's Music Cafe , Home of the world record Danny Boy Marathon, will hold a FULL DRESS REHERSAL Thursday July 31st at 7 pm For our Upcoming "SINGING IN THE SHOWER EVENT" Slated for August 10th 2008 between 2-6 pm at AJ's Music Cafe, 240 West 9 Mile in Downtown Ferndale, Michigan.

A REAL WORKING SHOWER has been erected and is on our stage for the 100 or so performers who have signed up for this G RATED FAMILY FUN charitable event to raise money for the Ferndale based DETROIT TOGETHER MENS CHORUS , now in their 26th year.

A Car Wash and carnival with a putt putt challenge will also take place outside on the rear patio, on the day of the event.  Tickets to the car wash are available at AJ's cafe and are  $7 or $10 for valet.

All press are invited for the Dress rehersal . To sign up to participate or become a sponsor, please call 248 399 3946.

This is a never before attempted event that is sure to be a hillarious hit!!

 
Ferndale night spots to be busy Friday night

Organizers expect 1,600 celebrants to show up and hoist a few for a good cause during this year's Ferndale Pub Crawl.

"We believe we should be able to raise about $20,000," said Mayor Craig Covey, who is a co-founder of the annual pub crawl.
