"Ferndale Mayor Craig Covey said Wednesday that he slept through a break-in during which someone took jewelry from his bedroom and stole car keys before driving off with his SUV. Ferndale Police Chief Michael Kitchen said whoever committed the thefts was 'quite stealthy.'"

At the invitation of a neighbor, Thomas Gagne entered Edy's Neighborhood Salute essay contest.  His was one of 1500 essays selected as grand prize winners.  The prize?  An ice-cream party for his block.
