We have to ask, what were voters thinking when they voted in favor of this ordinance? From the Detroit News' Brief's for Friday, November 7:
Ferndale officials are waiting for guidance from the city's attorney and state officials on what steps to take to implement a local medical marijuana proposal that passed overwhelmingly Tuesday. The proposal allows the National Organization for Positive Medicine, headed by convicted felon and disbarred attorney Carl Swanson, to sell marijuana to sick patients who obtain a court order. Police Chief Michael Kitchen said he's never met Swanson and he'd like to see what judge would issue such an order. He believes Ferndale voters may have confused the local proposal with a statewide measure legalizing medical marijuana. That, too, passed.
